Helping the least of them.
Anna We got our last set of papers today. Last time there were 2 A's(sp). This time there were 3. Emily did not get an A this time. Dr. Ellison said she might be spending too much time on romance. Emily blushed, but when Dr. Ellison said Frank is still our poet laureit, whatever that is, she gave me a kiss on the forehead right in class. My face must have been red as a beet. He especially liked Master of my Fate and Jack but he said all of them vere excellent. Dr. Ellison said he was going to have to seperate Emily and Me because unitarians and catholics don't make good matches. Again thanks a million. Your grammar tips are great but your encouragemeant means so much. I hope your friends and church members know what you have done for me. You deserve praise more than I can say. I almost called your Archbishop to tell him about you but then thought he might think I might be crazy. Jack suggested the title of this blog to show how far I had come with your help. Frank

Gosh, Frank, you're going to make me blush. :) Thanks, though, and I'm glad that what I did was worth something to you.
ReplyDeleteAccording to wikipedia, "A Poet Laureate is a poet officially appointed by a government and often expected to compose poems for State occasions and other government events. The plural form is poets laureate."
The Greeks awarded laurel crowns (laurel being a kind of plant) to people who won competitions and such; I think Dr. Ellison was basically saying you're the head poet/writer of the class. :) Congratulations!
That's funny about unitarians and catholics not making good matches. Out of curiousity, have you and Emily talked much about religion yet? Or have you been too busy making each other blush in class? :)
I had to laugh at the idea of you calling my Archbishop. I've never met him, and he has no idea who I am, so I'm pretty sure he *would* think you were crazy, but then again, maybe he'd just think it was nice. I might get to meet him or at least see him for the first time this weekend, though. I've been getting to be friends with one of the people going through RCIA at my parish, and all three of the RCIA catechumen/candidates are going to go to a ceremony where they are presented to the archbishop, on Sunday, with a reception afterwards. I guess some of the people of the parish are going to carpool down to the cathedral for it, and I'm planning to go with them.
Let me know how your Monday writing class goes. :)
God bless.
Anna
Anna I know you are modest but you deserve recognition for what you do. I ask Jack what to do and he looked up where you were from and we then went to your diocese page and there was a picture of your bishop. I wanted to call but Jack said I should get your okay. Would you rather I call or send him an email. Let me know. I never knew I could blush. Emily and I have not discussed religion much yet. I am afraid I might slip and she might find my blog and not like me. Frank
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose I mind enough to object. Calling or emailing, it makes no difference to me. But I don't think it's important to be recognized for what I do, it just matters that you're better off for it. That by itself is enough recognition for me.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, seeing as how Emily already likes you, I don't think reading your blog would change her mind about that. But if you want to take your time about showing her all of that, that's fine, too. There's no need to rush things.
God bless,
Anna
Anna, this is Jack. We had a hard time finding someone in your diocese who had e-mail; so we sent an e-mail to a deacon who coordinates evangelism. Jack, Alice, Frank. If something wrong was said ( I'm sure there was not) just blame me. Jack
ReplyDeleteBTW, I assume your name is Anna Firtree, not Annafirtree(:).
:) My last name is not actually Firtree. That's just what I use for my username. My first name really is Anna, though.
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
Anna
I understand fully that you do not want to give your full name. The exact position of my daughter. So I will drop it, but you should be recognized for what you've done. We did send the e-mail. Jack, Alice, Frank.
ReplyDeleteWriting class starts tonight. 2 students from NYC, one from Chicago. I'm from sticksville. If you have a moment say a prayer. Frank
ReplyDeleteGood luck and God bless. :)
