political question. don't want to go to hell!!!!

hi b or anyone out there. my question is this. what does catholic voter{me} do in 2008? since all democratic candidates favor killing babies, i can't vote democrat. ask your bishop. am i not right. please don't give proportionate argument as nothing tops killing the innocent. half way joking, but half way serious.am i left with romney and mccain. of course they believe in killing foreigners and american criminals but not the unborn. help save my soul!! jack is safe he is invincibly ignorant--is that the current phrase for non-catholics. alice

  1. Hi Alice,

Joe addresses this in depth. He is very liberal so he realy hates to vote republican anyway. He sees a nullification argument that if you cure the ills of society, then that will decrease abortions.

He also claims that none of the current candidates pass the abortion criteria. All of them are pretty wishy washy about it. Romney has a strong pro-choice record in Massachusetts.

One way you could stay true to your principals is to register Republican and vote in the primaries for a Sam Brown, or for one of them who is actually pro-life. Having done your catholic duty, you will then be faced with two pro-choice candidates in the final election.

Beyond that there is the Joe Cecil nullification method. If you believe that at final analysis a pro-choice catholic will have a better net affect fo life (war, poverty, et cetera) then many catholics would agree that you are voting in good conscience.

  2. B.,

Nice summary of my thought. Liam offers another solution. Cast a blank ballot - or vote third party if you can find one that is good enough.

    Peace!

  3. joe, thanks for stopping by. i'm honored! as you may remember, jack blames you if he goes to hell. your arrogant choice of sex over piety, kept you from orders and kept you from a parish where you would be priest and, i'm afraid to say, jack and i would be your only parishoners. but your choice is not too bad---merely an additonal 80 billion years in purgatory, which is nothing compared to 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years if you use contraceptives..Alice [make believe catholic. that's what b says.
